The Medicines and Health Products Safety Agency reported on February 12, 2024 a supply restriction of the hospital channel concerning the Ixiaro vaccine (Valneva laboratory). This vaccine is indicated for active immunization against Japanese encephalitis in adults, adolescents, children and infants over 2 months of age. The administration of Ixiaro should be considered in subjects exposed to a risk of infection by the virus during travel or in the context of their professional activity.

- Emergency stock for vaccination centers, hospitals and pharmacies
- Normal delivery planned for the end of March 2024.
In this context, the Valneva laboratory has issued the following recommendations:
- Prioritize the vaccination of people who have already started the primary vaccination schedule,
- Defer the initiation of a new primary vaccination schedule for patients leaving after April 2024.
- Delay administration of booster doses if necessary.
In situations where a primary vaccination schedule has already been initiated (patient waiting for the 2nd injection) an emergency emergency stock has been established in order to be able to supply the Centers
of International Vaccinations and community pharmacies.
Healthcare professionals are asked to redirect patients waiting for their 2nd injection to one of the International Vaccination Centers.
