It’s a truly special feeling, and as a surfer who’s grown up riding these waves, it’s incredibly inspiring to share this experience. You get to connect with pro surfers from across the globe, and honestly, watching them perform elevates your own game.

Seeing these athletes push the boundaries of what’s possible in the water is a powerful motivator. It makes you want to get out there and improve,to challenge yourself and your limits. Their dedication and skill are something to admire, and it’s a privilege to be able to learn from them simply by observing.
Competition vs. The Free Surf Life
Many young surfers face a pivotal question: pursue the competitive circuit or embrace the freedom of free surfing. For me, the dream is a blend of both.I’d absolutely love to participate in select competitions, testing my skills against the best.

The Eddie Aikau event at Waimea: This legendary big-wave contest is the pinnacle for many surfers.
The Pipe Masters: Surfing Pipeline is a rite of passage,and competing there would be amazing.
Teahupo’o trials: This is a proving ground for those seeking a wildcard into the WSL event.
Earning a WSL wildcard: Ultimately, getting invited to compete on the world stage is the ultimate ambition.However, at the heart of it all, I just want to keep getting barreled. That feeling – the pure exhilaration of being enveloped by a wave – is what drives me. [Laughs.]

Pipeline, with its powerful and hollow waves, demands respect and precision. It’s a wave that separates the good from the great, and dedicating time to mastering it is indeed a priority. Similarly, teahupo’o, known for its incredibly heavy and dangerous barrels, is a challenge I’m eager to embrace.

Preparing for the trials at Teahupo’o is a meaningful focus,as it represents a pathway to competing alongside the world’s elite.Ultimately, surfing is about passion, community, and the relentless pursuit of the perfect wave.
