In her column about the summary proceedings between Tom and broadcaster NOS, Angela stated that Tom deliberately wore a brown suit and that his wife deliberately put her hair up to paint an image of simplicity and humility. Jan thinks it’s absurd. “That you dare to write this down after you know that someone has had a heart attack,” he fumes. “And the fact that you say: this was a play that they performed… I think that goes so far.”
Jan finds Angela’s words hypocritical. “I thought about it because you once called me sexist when I said something about Suzanne Kunzeler’s hair.” But Jan thinks what Angela has done is ‘exactly the same’.
Angela disagrees. “I don’t judge him on his clothes. I just say: There’s an idea behind that.” According to the opinion maker, the heart attack does not have much to do with the situation. “He already had that before, when he was employed by the NOS.”
Then Jan doesn’t want to talk about all this anymore. He only mentions that he thinks it’s all ‘far-fetched’ from Angela. She then finally says: “Again: I would like to give you this point, but I am not judging him on the clothes, but on the image I saw there and I did not fall for it. Sorry.”
