Senator Janaína Farias (PT-CE) highlighted, during a speech on Wednesday (10), the launch of the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program in the “rural” and “entities” modalities, made by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. She highlighted the importance of resuming the housing program for thousands of Brazilians who still do not have housing and, in particular, for traditional communities such as quilombolas, indigenous peoples and families organized by movements fighting for housing, which will be served from from now.

— Minha Casa, Minha Vida Rural e Entidades, launched today [quarta], will mean an investment of almost R$12 billion from the federal government and will build 112 thousand new homes across the country. And I have great news here for the men and women of Ceará: there in Ceará, we will benefit from almost 6 thousand homes destined for the people of my region. It’s Minha Casa, Minha Vida Rural. It is the PT government, President Lula’s government, showing its commitment to those who need it most.

According to the senator, since the program was created in 2009, around 7.7 million families across the country have benefited from the initiative. Last year alone, when the program was resumed, more than 21,000 housing units were delivered by the government, and another 22,000 that were paralyzed had their work resumed. Janaína also informed that in 2023 more than 500 thousand new homes were contracted and that the goal is to guarantee the contracting of 2 million by 2026.
