Jeffrey Epstein Permanently Banned from Xbox Live in 2013
Emails released as part of U.S.legal proceedings reveal that Jeffrey Epstein was permanently banned from Xbox Live in December 2013, according to reporting from The Verge.
An initial email from microsoft stated that his account was suspended for “harassment and/or abuse towards other players.” However, a subsequent email sent on the same day clarified that the ban was actually due to Epstein’s status as a convicted sex offender. Microsoft was among companies agreeing to remove individuals with such convictions from their online services to mitigate potential risks to minors.
This policy was reportedly part of a New York State initiative to which microsoft had adhered since April 2012.documents suggest Epstein created his Xbox Live account in the fall of 2012.
The emails originated from a set of documents made public by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
While documents do not confirm whether Epstein personally used an Xbox console, references exist to potential Xbox purchases or charges to the service, but there is no direct evidence of personal gaming activity. Forbes notes that the “gamertag” associated with the account remains unknown and was not found within the released documents.
Jeffrey Epstein, a financier convicted of sex crimes involving minors, died in 2019 while facing further federal charges. The DOJ was mandated to release all documents pertaining to investigations into Epstein by December 19, 2025, though only partial disclosures have been made to date.
