Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar drew a hard line on Friday. Faced with restless party members threatening to quit over cabinet formation grievances, he issued a blunt warning: he would immediately accept the resignations of any legislators attempting to force the leadership’s hand.
Political friction erupted following the recent expansion and restructuring of the Karnataka state ministry. The overhaul left a trail of senior aspirants empty-handed, igniting immediate discontent among regional and factional leaders.

The latest cabinet reshuffle welcomed notable figures including Laxman Savadi. It also secured appointments for the children of three former Chief Ministers.
Yet the exclusions cut deep. Prominent hopefuls, such as N.A. Haris, were left out entirely. Compounding the sting, the current ministerial lineup features a complete absence of female representation.
The omissions drew sharp criticism from within the party ranks, prompting an estimated 16 legislators to voice their grievances.
Uncompromising Stance Against Public Ultimatums
Addressing the press amid the escalating tensions, Shivakumar made it clear that internal dissent would not derail party administration or coerce leadership decisions.
“If anyone submits their resignation, I will accept it,” Shivakumar stated.
He urged restless lawmakers to exercise patience as the government works to balance regional representation and coalition dynamics.
