Kia Seltos Refresh Arrives in Europe

Kia has officially launched the second-generation Seltos for the European market, marking the SUV’s debut on the continent following its North American refresh earlier this spring. The updated model arrives with revised styling, an upgraded interior featuring a triple-display cockpit and a choice between conventional internal combustion and hybrid powertrains, reflecting Kia’s strategy to cater to diverse regional preferences amid tightening emissions regulations across Europe.

The European-spec Seltos retains the same exterior dimensions as its global counterparts, measuring 4,430 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. Exterior updates include rectangular headlights integrated with the grille, fang-shaped daytime running lights, and redesigned taillights. Wheel options range from 16 to 19 inches depending on trim level, offering buyers flexibility in appearance and ride characteristics.

Inside, the cabin features a completely redesigned front panel, a novel steering wheel, and a driver-focused three-display setup. This includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a matching 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and a smaller HVAC control panel positioned between them. Entry-level trims place the gear selector on the center tunnel, while higher-spec models move it to a steering column-mounted configuration, aligning with modern ergonomic trends seen in competing subcompact SUVs.

Powertrain offerings for the European market consist of two main variants. The internal combustion engine (ICE) version uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 180 PS (132 kW), available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, both driving the front wheels with all-wheel drive offered as an option. The hybrid variant employs a detuned version of the same 1.6-liter turbo engine paired with one or two electric motors. The single-motor setup delivers 156 PS (115 kW) to the front axle, while the dual-motor version produces 180 PS (132 kW) and enables all-wheel drive capability. Notably, Kia highlights Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality across the hybrid lineup, allowing owners to power external devices using the car’s battery system.

Sales of the second-generation Seltos in Europe are set to begin later this quarter, according to Kia’s regional rollout plan. The automaker positions the vehicle as a direct competitor to models such as the Chevrolet Trax, Mazda CX-30, and Volkswagen Taos in the increasingly crowded subcompact SUV segment. With its blend of updated technology, flexible powertrain options, and competitive equipment levels even in base trims, the refreshed Seltos aims to strengthen Kia’s foothold in one of the world’s most discerning automotive markets.
