Nuclear-armed North Korea has this year called South Korea its “main enemy,” dismantled agencies tasked with unifying the two countries and improving relations, and threatened war if “even 0.001 millimeter” of its territory was encroached upon.

“If the enemy dares to use force against our country, we will make a bold decision that will change the course of history and will not hesitate to mobilize all superpowers to put an end to him,” Kim Jong Un was quoted as saying by Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

“Peace is not something that should be prayed for or negotiated,” he added.

KCNA reported that Kim Jong Un made the remarks while speaking at a Defense Ministry event to commemorate the founding anniversary of the country’s military.

Kim Jong Un’s speech echoed his comments on state media last month, in which he said of South Korea and its ally the United States that his military should “destroy” enemies if provoked.

Images released by KCNA on Friday showed Kim Jong Un holding the hand of his daughter Ju Ae, who some analysts say is being groomed to become the isolated country’s new leader.

The footage also shows Black receiving enthusiastic greetings from uniformed soldiers and taking photos with army commanders.

Kim Jong Un said that Pyongyang’s decision to name Seoul as its main enemy was the right measure.

“The decision to name (South) Korean puppets as our main hostile nation and permanent enemy” and “occupy and destroy their territory in the event of an emergency is made for the sake of our country’s internal security,” KCNA quoted him as saying.

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said last week that North Korea’s “crazy” government could launch a range of provocations, including cyber attacks and drone incursions, ahead of elections in Seoul in April.

In January, Seoul’s defense minister said that if the North Korean regime started a war, it would be the end.

North Korea’s formal parliament voted Wednesday to scrap laws on economic cooperation with South Korea, KCNA reported.

Kim Jong Un also ordered more active weapons tests, in the context of which a number of cruise missiles were launched this year – according to analysts, missiles North Korea may hand over to Russia for use in Ukraine.
