Kirsty Gallacher Shares Shocking Encounter & Updates on Health Journey
Kirsty Gallacher, the well-known television personality, recently recounted a frightening incident involving a stranger attempting to grab her while she was out walking. She bravely shared the details of the ordeal, expressing her shock and gratitude for the swift-thinking individuals who came to her assistance.
The incident occurred while Gallacher was enjoying a walk, and a man reportedly tried to physically seize her. Fortunately, bystanders intervened, preventing the situation from escalating further. She expressed immense relief and thankfulness for their courage and support.
“I didn’t know what to do in that moment,” Gallacher stated, still visibly shaken. “I was shocked. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”
This unsettling experience comes as Gallacher also navigates a personal health challenge. Last month, she publicly disclosed her diagnosis of a benign acoustic neuroma – a non-cancerous tumor affecting the auditory nerve.
She explained the initial symptoms during an appearance on a daytime television program. “A couple of years ago, I literally woke up and I couldn’t really hear out of my right ear and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s a bit odd’,” she shared.
Diagnosis followed a period of examination, particularly complicated by the recent Covid-19 pandemic. Doctors ultimately identified the acoustic neuroma, a condition that affects many individuals.
Currently, surgical intervention is considered too risky due to the tumor’s location near the brain.Rather, Gallacher is preparing for radiotherapy treatment aimed at shrinking the growth.
“I’m having radiotherapy in November, I’m really nervous… It’s growing sadly,” she admitted. The tumor’s proximity to the brain adds a layer of concern,as it carries the potential to cause neurological complications.
However, she remains optimistic about the treatment. ”It’s hazardous as it’s pressing on the brain as well, it’s right by the brain… we hope that it might do the job, zap it.It’s quite straightforward.”
Despite the challenges, Gallacher emphasizes her gratitude for a benign diagnosis and the relatively small size of the tumor. “I’m very lucky it’s benign, I’m very lucky that it’s not huge, but it’s the only way of managing it.”
This combination of a frightening public encounter and a serious health diagnosis underscores a difficult period for the television star. Yet, her openness and resilience serve as an inspiration.
