Speaking on his “Game Over” podcast, Paul sought to dampen expectations that an announcement is imminent, despite pressure from league officials.

I saw Adam [Silver] in New York and we discussed it, and like I said, it's still [LeBron's] choice. But if he doesn't really know, you can't rush it, Paul said. We're not going to be rushed. It doesn't matter. I don't wanna sit here and sound like this — I'll just say, we're not going to be rushed. It's his choice to make and when he makes the choice he'll make it.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, there is currently no decision, no choice yet, no timetable on a choice as of yet. This represents the longest it has taken James to make a move in free agency compared to his previous decisions to join Miami, return to Cleveland, or head to Los Angeles, which were all announced in the earlier days of free agency.

According to Kalshi, the probability of where James will sign as of Tuesday evening at 12:30 p.m. stood as follows:

• Miami Heat: 39 percent
• Cleveland Cavaliers: 36 percent
• Golden State Warriors: 14 percent
• Philadelphia 76ers: 12 percent

Kalshi also suggests a timeline for the announcement: there is a 45 percent chance he signs before July 24, a 53 percent chance before July 25, and a 58 percent chance by July 26. While everyone expects the decision to be made before the end of July, James still has three months before the start of the season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, in particular, have not made any major moves this summer, even keeping James Harden on hold as he opted out of his contract to potentially clear the way for James to return. Until there is clarity on James’ future, Harden likely will not sign a new deal. Despite the anticipation, Paul maintains that the process is simply a matter of James making the right choice on his own timeline.
