Jakarta – A smart city is a city designed with advanced technology, in order to improve the quality of life of the people who live in it.

This smart city assessment was carried out by the Institute Management and Development (IMD) by conducting a Smart City Index (SCI) survey on cities in the world. The report results from this survey have a constructive purpose by taking samples to represent each region to encourage regional representation.

The hope is to ensure that, in the future, smart cities focus on paying attention to the humans (human-centric) who live in them and embrace all groups (inclusive).

“The SCI annual report is released to help city governments build future cities that are resilient and able to adapt to changing times,” explained Bruno Lanvin, President of the Smart City Observatory, part of the IMD World Competitiveness Center, which conducted the research.

The total number of registered smart cities in the world is 142 cities. In this ranking, the continents of Europe and Asia dominate the top 20 smartest cities in the world.
