The Institute Management and Development (IMD) revealed the results of the 2024 Smart City Index (SCI) survey. Of the total of 142 cities surveyed, 3 cities in Indonesia were included in the list. Which cities are there?
The three cities included in the Smart City Index 2024 list are Jakarta in 103rd place, Medan in 112th place, and Makassar in 114th place.
“The SCI annual report was released to help city governments build future cities that are resilient and able to adapt to changing times,” explained Smart City Observatory President Bruno Lanvin in a written statement, Thursday (25/2/2024).

Apart from displaying the ranking, IMD also releases problems that each city can fix.
1. Jakarta (103)
Jakarta residents identified three main problems, namely: air pollution (68.4%), traffic congestion (66%), and corruption (51.7%). Meanwhile, Jakarta residents are satisfied with the ease of accessing schedules and buying public transport tickets online (score 83.2), scheduling health services online (score 81.1), and accessing online worker portals (score 81).
2. While (112)
In Medan, the three main problems felt by the community are security (58.3%), unemployment (53.2%), and corruption (49.6%). On the positive side, respondents expressed satisfaction with the business world which created many jobs (score 78.3), easy access to schedules and purchasing public transport tickets online (score 77.8), and online job search (score 77).
3. Makassar (114)
Makassar respondents highlighted three main problems such as traffic jams (52.6%), unemployment (52.5%), and corruption (49.6%). However, respondents were satisfied with the ease of scheduling health services online (score 74), accessing job opportunities online (score 73.9), and accessing schedules and purchasing public transport tickets online (score 72.1).
Apart from that, IMD SCI 2024 also reports the ranking of a number of cities in Southeast Asia. The following is the list.
