Sérgio Conceição is being appointed to AC Milan, currently second in the Italian championship, to succeed Stefano Pioli, the Italian coach who has led the Rossoneri for five seasons and is expected to leave his position next summer.

After already being placed in the orbit of several clubs, including Italy (Naples), Sérgio Conceição is in the sights of AC Milan.

According to the portal “SportItalia”, businessman Jorge Mendes, who is Sérgio Conceição’s agent, suggested to AC Milan the name of the current coach of FC Porto, to command the team, to succeed Stefano Pioli, who must leave the club at the end of this season.

Likewise, the Italian sports newspaper “Gazzetta dello Sport” pointed out the coach of the blue and whites as a hypothesis for AC Milan, but, in this case, it points to another Portuguese coach as an alternative: Paulo Fonseca, who is currently in France, at in front of Lille.

The Italian Roberto de Zerbi (Brighton) and the Dutch Van Bommel (Antwerp) are other names in the equation, adds the transalpine newspaper.

Gianluca di Marzio, a journalist specializing in the football market, assured, however, that the first contacts have already begun with a view to concluding the signing of Sérgio Conceição by the Milan club.

The same expert adds that the Portuguese coach “is inclined” to leave FC Porto, but adds Ruben Amorim (Sporting) to the possible targets of the current vice-leader of Italian Serie A.

Sérgio Conceição, aged 49, as a player, had a remarkable spell in Italy, having played for Lazio and Inter. Remember that the coach renewed his contract with the Dragons last week, as an initiative by Pinto da Costa, on the eve of the club’s election, which would lead to André Villas-Boas’ triumph. The coach now has a contract until 2028, that is, for another four seasons, and is expected to hold a conversation with the elected president.
