The match in Varna started evenly, with the battle between the two teams in the first five minutes taking place mainly in the center of the field. Several crosses from the right by Ivan Turtsiov were neutralized by the defense of Varna, who attempted attacks mainly on the right flank of their attack.

After a quarter of an hour of play, Fernando Karanga received a yellow card for a foul against Drobarov, and gradually the guests imposed a slight territorial pressure on their opponent, but he did not cause great concern for the guard Ivan Dyulgerov. In the 15th minute, Jonathan Lindseth led a wonderful Fernando Karanga to the Black Sea goal. The Brazilian controlled and dealt with the protection of Zhivko Atanasov and Vlatko Drobarov, then unleashed a powerful diagonal shot that was unsaveable for Dyulgerov. Zhelezov’s first assistant referee flagged an offside that was thin, but legally ruled.

The hosts had claims for a second yellow card for the CSKA striker, who reacted rather harshly to the side judge’s decision, after he had already received an official warning earlier in the match.

Six after that, Tobias Heinz linked up with Jonathan Lindseth with a left-footed cross, but the latter’s Norwegian failed to get a header and the ball went wide. After half an hour of play, Vion brought Karanga into the penalty area to the right of Dulgerov’s goal, but the Brazilian’s shot was quite inaccurate.

At the end of the half, Heinz gave a pass in the Black Sea penalty area, and the ball was attacked by Karanga. The striker was late and collided with the goalkeeper Dyulgerov and an offside was flagged. The Black Sea players demanded a second yellow card for the Brazilian, although it was doubtful in this situation. Karanga then started to walk in towards the pitch and collapsed on the pitch after colliding with Issa in order to get the Varna striker booked.

Shortly after, Ismail Isa and Jurgen Matei got into a verbal dispute, for which Valentin Zhelezov showed both of them yellow cards. After that, a strong shot by Danny Martin almost made it difficult for Busato, which was the last more interesting touch of the first half.

With the start of the second half, the fans of both teams showed a pyroshow in both sectors, but the match did not have to be stopped briefly by the referee.

The first serious situation of the second half was for Black Sea, after Mazir Sula broke through the center in the 48th minute and passed to the left to Andrejas Kalkan, who, however, got in the way and his shot was blocked. In the 55th minute, a counterattack by the “sailors” ended with a bad pass in the penalty area by Panayotov, which ended with the ball in the hands of Busato.
