The city’s Paseo Público will host a series of events coinciding with the national holiday, Día Nacional de la Memoria por la Verdad y la Justicia (National Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice), offering a diverse lineup of entertainment from local musicians to nationally recognized cumbia acts. The event, a collaborative effort between the Rotary Club, El Mercader fair organizers, and city cultural and tourism officials, promises a lively atmosphere with a strong emphasis on community and accessibility.
The four-day event, beginning this weekend, will feature over 25 food trucks and 40 artisan vendors, creating a bustling marketplace alongside the musical performances. Organizers emphasized the extensive planning involved, encompassing security measures, cleanliness protocols, and the participation of various local businesses. The festivities are designed to appeal to families, with activities running from 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM each day, and admission remaining free to the public. A Weekend of Music and Remembrance
The musical lineup is diverse, kicking off with performances by local musicians on Saturday, serving as a prelude to a performance by the folk ensemble Jóvenes Musiqueros. Sunday will witness the stage taken over by The Palmers, a tribute band honoring the iconic Santa Fe cumbia group, Los Palmeras. The Palmers have garnered a significant following for their faithful renditions of Los Palmeras’ classic hits, promising a nostalgic and energetic performance.
