Former Prime Minister (PM) Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad also under investigation alleged corruption case who dragged his two sons. This investigation was carried out as Kuala Lumpur authorities expanded their crackdown on corrupt practices involving prominent political figures in the country.

As reported Thursday (25/4/2024), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) announced on Thursday (25/4) local time that Mahathir was among the people being investigated in connection with a corruption investigation involving his children.

Malaysian authorities under the PM’s government Anwar Ibrahim It is known that he is conducting a wide-ranging investigation into allegations of corruption involving prominent political figures, including people considered close to Mahathir, Malaysia’s veteran leader who is now 98 years old.

Mahathir is also known to be Anwar Ibrahim’s political rival for a long time.

Anwar Ibrahim in his statement denied he had deliberately targeted his political rivals, and stressed that the investigation was part of the Malaysian government’s efforts to root out high-level corruption.

MACC, in January, served notices to Mahathir’s two sons who work as businessmen, Mirzan and Mokhzani, to report their assets as part of an investigation into financial and offshore business records revealed by a group of media organizations.

The chairman of the MACC commissioner, Azam Baki, on Thursday (25/4) local time refused to explain further regarding the ongoing investigation into Mahathir or his two sons.

“Let the investigation be completed first, until the right time when we can present the findings in this case,” said Baki when speaking to local journalists.
