E-type is already known for its Viking restaurant. Now he opens another pub in Gamla stan – Mammut bar.
– This has been on my bucket list for twenty years.
For just over ten years, Martin E-type Eriksson has run his Viking restaurant Aifur in Gamla stan. Now he is opening a new bar, just a stone’s throw from his restaurant.
E-type’s new pub is called Mammut bar.
– It’s a straight and simple rock bar, which I’ve missed in Gamla stan. It’s a living room for those who enjoy hard rock. Kind of nerdy like that, a bar by hard rockers for hard rockers.
The menu includes classic bar food such as burgers, steaks and fish and chips.
– We invest in the classic rather than trying to invent something new. It’s super fresh, good simple good food.
He is particularly proud of how chef Robban managed to get their fries.
– They are the best in Sweden, and then I have eaten at many restaurants when I was on tours. They are fairly thick fries, cheesy and not fried in the deep fryer.

The bar serves, among other things, our own Mammut beer, an amber ale brewed at Fjäderholmarna in Stockholm.
– I hope to produce my own Mammut wine soon as well. I am very interested in wine.
The dream of owning a rock bar has existed for many years. E-type’s accountant knows that, with whom he has worked since the early 2000s.
– She thinks I’ve been nagging about the bar since we started working together. So it’s something that’s been on my bucket list for twenty years.

The bar is located in a basement with old stone vaults.
– It’s a lovely environment, like a cozy dungeon. Everything is so untouched and it is exciting with so much history.
The pub opened at the beginning of March. So far, there is a DJ on site on certain evenings, from whom you can request hard rock songs. Live music is also being targeted in the future.
– We are building a small stage. Larger groups can come here and do smaller things, for example at launches of new plates.
Mammut Bar is located at Västerlånggatan 60 in Gamla stan. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 17.00.
