The first month of the year 2024 is not synonymous with joy for some athletes who were once at the top. On this occasion the former NBA player, Marc Gasolmade an important announcement regarding his career.
During a press conference at the Cinema Texas de Barcelonaended his career in the world of basketball, after playing for 21 years between Spain and the NBA.
The Spaniard’s career began in 2003 when he debuted with FC Barcelona Baloncesto in the 91-77 victory against Estudiantes. Despite his little participation, he was part of the conquest of the League ACB.
Marc Gasol and his ability on the court was climbing positions little by little. However, in the 2005 U-20 EuroBasket, he shined with 16.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks.
While, the following year he won the gold medal with the national team Spain at the 2006 World Cup in Japan.
The next two years, he defended the Akasvayu Girona shirt, and then landed in the NBA con Memphis Grizzlies where he played for 11 years.

Marc Gasol’s NBA career
In that time he played 26,565 minutes in a total of 795 games, leaving a scoring percentage of .483, after scoring 11,921 points, 324 three-pointers, 4,772 rebounds, 2,740 assists and 1,158 blocks, last season he was shared with the Toronto Raptors, data from Basketball Reference.

After finishing his time in the NBA he returned to Spain to play with Basketball Gironaa club that he founded in 2014 and that he now presides over.
The most important achievement on his return to Spain was to obtain promotion to the League ACBafter beating Movistar Estudiantes in a promotion match by 66-60.
