Pokémon developer game Freak is collaborating with multiple partner companies on its upcoming action game,Beast of Reincarnation.
During teh Xbox Developer Direct on January 23, 2026, Game Freak showcased Beast of Reincarnation, set in a post-apocalyptic Japan. Players assume the role of Emma the Sealer, accompanied by her canine companion Koo, as they confront the source of a world-corrupting force to save humanity.IGN
The game appears to be more ambitious in scope than Game Freak’s previous titles outside of the Pokémon series.According to the game’s director, the progress team is leveraging outside assistance to achieve their vision.
“The team is quiet large, as you can imagine, but I will note that its not all folks internally here at Game Freak,” the game director told IGN. “We managed to seek out a lot of partner companies to work with us, companies, studios that are able to realize the vision of this game in the way that we wanted to make it, so we’re lucky to have a lot of people working on it externally as well.”
A Game Freak PR representative clarified to IGN that the internal team at Game Freak is relatively small,consisting primarily of core direction and management roles leading the project.
