Maruti Suzuki has secured a five-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP for its updated Brezza facelift ahead of its official July 24, 2026 launch in India. The compact SUV achieves top marks in both adult and child occupant protection while introducing a new turbo-petrol engine option alongside existing variants.
The updated compact sport utility vehicle arrives with significant structural and mechanical enhancements. Bharat NCAP crash tests evaluated a ZXI+ variant equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, with a test vehicle weight of 1,471 kg. Test results apply to all variants of the Brezza facelift.
Bharat NCAP Crash Test Scores and Safety Ratings
In official assessments, the Brezza facelift secured five stars for both Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection. The model scored 30.41 out of 32 points for adult protection, alongside 43 out of 49 points for child protection. Detailed score analysis shows the vehicle earned 14.41 points out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, alongside a maximum 16 out of 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier test. The vehicle also successfully cleared the side pole impact assessment.
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet received ‘good’ protection, while the chest and tibiae received ‘adequate’ protection. In the same test, all critical parts of the co-driver received ‘good’ protection, except the tibiae, which received ‘adequate’ protection. In the side movable barrier and side pole impact tests, all critical parts of the passenger, including head, chest, abdomen and pelvis, received ‘good’ protection. In the side pole impact test (pole), the verdict was ‘OK’.
Child occupant protection testing yielded a dynamic score of 24 out of 24 points, a Child Restraint System installation score of 12 out of 12 points, and a vehicle assessment score of 7 out of 13 points. For the COP tests, the child seats of both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies were rearward-facing. The test results suggest that both dummies scored a full 8 out of 8 points in the frontal and 4 out of 4 in the side crash test.
Powertrain Options and Booking Details Ahead of Launch
Ahead of the official unveiling, bookings for the updated Brezza have already begun with a token amount of Rs 11,000 at Maruti Suzuki Arena showrooms and the company’s official website. Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift 2026 will be unveiled on July 24, 2026 during an online launch event. While Maruti Suzuki has not revealed pricing yet, the 2026 Brezza Facelift is expected to start at around Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom), with prices varying across variants.
This will be the most major update to the second-generation of the SUV so far, following the current-generation model’s debut in 2022. One of the biggest expected changes is the introduction of Maruti Suzuki’s 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine on select variants, which is a three-cylinder engine capable of generating a maximum of 100 bhp of power and 148 Nm of torque, with a 6-speed gearbox expected. The existing naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol and CNG options are also expected to continue. Official powertrain details will be confirmed at the launch.
The updated Brezza is expected to receive several exterior and interior upgrades, including a revised front grille and bumper, updated LED headlamps and tail-lamps, a new alloy wheel design, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof on higher variants, enhanced connected car features, and additional safety technologies. Once launched, the refreshed Brezza will continue to rival the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra.
