A Signature Scent for the Hot Girl Summer Brand
The Grammy-winning artist, born Megan Pete, has launched her debut fragrance, “Hot Girl Summer,” in a high-profile collaboration with global beauty giant Coty. The product is now available exclusively at Ulta Beauty, marking the Houston native’s latest expansion from music and fashion into the competitive personal care market.
Notes of Coconut and Orchid
The fragrance draws its name from the viral 2019 song and cultural phenomenon. According to specifications from Coty, the scent is a floral composition built on a top note of coconut milk, a heart of orchid, and a base of vetiver. Megan Pete noted that the choice of vetiver was deliberate, designed to complement the scent profile of shea butter—a staple in her personal skincare routine.
“One thing that is going to be consistent, it’s going to smell like Megan,” the artist stated. She describes the final product as a balance between warm and sexy, purposefully avoiding profiles that lean too far into sweetness or excessive florals. For the artist, the fragrance is a tool for presence, intended to bolster an individual’s confidence the moment they enter a room.
From Teenage Body Sprays to Corporate Collaboration
The project is rooted in the artist’s long-standing interest in fragrance. She recalls her teenage years spent using body sprays and lotions from Bath & Body Works, specifically citing the Japanese Cherry Blossom scent as a favorite among her peers. This history served as the foundation for her desire to build a product that aligns with her public persona.
Leveraging Brand Recognition at Scale
For Megan Pete, the business move is simply an extension of her professional work ethic. As she puts it: “Once I have a goal, I don’t stop until I finish it and then I’m thinking about what I want to do next.”
