On Monday, the foreign ministries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania summoned the local Russian officials in connection with the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny last week.
The foreign ministers of the Baltic countries announced in a joint statement that they condemned Navalny’s death at meetings in Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius, and emphasized that they hold the Kremlin responsible for what happened.
They called on Russia to fully reveal the circumstances of the opposition leader’s death and release his body to Navalny’s family.
They also criticized the Russian presidential election in March, which they believe will be neither free nor fair.
They also drew attention to the fact that the voting and its results will not be recognized in the areas of Ukraine that have come under Russian control.
