The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad and the University for Peace (UPEACE) signed, Thursday in Geneva, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a view to strengthening the capacities of Moroccan diplomats.

The document, signed, on the Moroccan side, by Hicham Rhazri, Director of Human Resources, and on the UPEACE side by David Fernandez Puyana, Permanent Observer Ambassador of the University for Peace, is part of the policy of Ministry of Foreign Affairs aimed at diversifying its international partners, particularly in the field of diplomatic training.

The agreement mainly concerns the development of joint training programs on issues of common interest.

On the sidelines of this ceremony, Rhazri and Fernandez Puyana discussed the modalities and actions to be implemented to implement the provisions of this memorandum, in particular in terms of training and capacity building of Moroccan diplomats.

On this occasion, the Permanent Observer Ambassador of UPEACE highlighted Morocco’s regional and international leadership on peace and security issues, as well as its globally recognized contributions in the field of peacekeeping.

The University for Peace is an institution of higher education dedicated to the study of peace. Established by General Assembly Resolution 35/55 in 1980, UPEACE has trained peace leaders over the past four decades, with more than 6,000 alumni from more than 120 countries working for peace worldwide. global scale.
