Mozambique: health professionals stop activities for 30 days –

Health professionals in Mozambique stopped their activities this Monday, 29th, for a period of 30 days across the country.

The measure, according to the Trade Union Committee, aims to pressure the Government to respond to professionals’ demands for better working conditions, particularly salaries.

According to the movement’s spokesperson, Assucena Zunguza, the Mozambican government “has not honored the commitments agreed at the negotiating table last year, which led to the suspension of the strike”.

The striking workers say that the health units are in poor condition, there are no medicines to treat the most common diseases, there are no gloves, masks, syringes, needles, laboratory reagents, nor paper to print hospital documents and laboratory analysis results.
