Tragic Death of Tainara Santos: A Case of Femicide in São Paulo

Police allege Douglas Alves da Silva, 26, her former boyfriend, was the driver. Witnesses report a heated argument preceded the attack,stemming from Alves da Silva seeing Santos with another man. He allegedly intentionally rammed her with a black VW Golf.
Tainara became trapped under the vehicle and was dragged along Avenida Morvan Dias de Figueiredo.According to investigators, a bar employee witnessed Alves da Silva accelerate into her, then deliberately engage the handbrake to maximize the pressure and inflict further harm. Despite attempts by bystanders to intervene, the driver fled the scene.
Critical injuries and Initial Response
Emergency services rushed Tainara to the hospital in critical condition. Sadly, the injuries sustained were catastrophic, ultimately requiring the amputation of both of her legs.Her mother shared that the relationship with Alves da Silva was not a serious one,adding to the senselessness of the tragedy.
Law enforcement located Alves da Silva on November 30th at a hotel in Vila Prudente. He reportedly resisted arrest and attempted to disarm an officer, resulting in a gunshot wound to his arm.
