New International Airport begins operating regular cargo flights –

The New Luanda International Airport, Dr. António Agostinho Neto, began operating regular cargo flights last January to various destinations.

It is a Boeing 737-800 from the national flag company, TAAG, which every Monday connects Luanda to the cities Lago (Nigeria) and Brazaville (Republic of Congo), transporting cargo.

The process, according to the Ministry of Transport, is part of the commercial and development dynamics of the cargo business segment, of TAAG Linhas Aéreas de
Angola.

“Customers and partners in this niche market will now benefit from greater convenience, availability and resources for cargo transport, speeding up the import and export of goods within the African continent”, he said, without, however, saying when domestic flights will begin. scheduled for the first quarter of this year.

It should be noted that “the Company recently incorporated the Boeing 737-800BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter) freighter into its fleet, which is the aircraft used on regular flights from AIAAN”, states the government statement, sent this Friday to the Kianda’s Mail.

In January 2024, TAAG transported around 1000 tons of various cargo between domestic, regional and international destinations.

“The start of regular cargo flights from AIAAN is aligned with the subsector’s vision, for the capitalization of Angola’s new airport infrastructure and consolidation of Luanda as a regional hub, given its geostrategic location”, highlights the document.
