Netflix has updated its streaming lineup for the week of August 10 to August 16, bringing a diverse mix of theatrical features, family favorites, and documentary additions to subscribers. Headlining this week’s digital drops is the R-rated religious horror film Immaculate, starring Sydney Sweeney, which makes its platform debut following its theatrical run in 2024.
According to reporting covered by outlets such as CBR, Immaculate grossed $35 million worldwide against a $9 million production budget after premiering at South by Southwest on March 12, 2024, and opening in theaters on March 22. Directed by Michael Mohan and written by Andrew Lobel, the 89-minute horror project is a passion project produced through Sweeney’s Fifty-Fifty Films banner—an endeavor the actor had been attached to since 2014, as noted by CBR.
The film follows Cecilia, a woman of devout faith who accepts an invitation to stay in an Italian convent. Once there, she uncovers the terrifying secrets of the labor. Alongside Sweeney, the cast features Álvaro Morte as Father Sal Tedeschi, Benedetta Porcaroli as Sister Gwen, Simona Tabasco as Sister Mary, as well as Dora Romano and Giorgio Colangeli. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes praised the feature as “immaculate in conception if not always in execution, saved by a divine performance from Sydney Sweeney.”
Aside from the psychological thriller hitting the service on August 13, the mid-August streaming calendar includes family comedies, animated adventures, and true-crime series spanning multiple days.

Family Features and Animated Additions
For younger audiences and family movie nights, the weekend brings several catalog titles to the platform. Firehouse Dog arrives on August 15, following a celebrity dog named Rexxx, who gets lost and ends up at a run-down fire station. Soon, he teams with a kid to get the station running.
Also arriving on Saturday, August 15, is Smurfs: The Lost Village. The 2017 family adventure follows Smurfette and her friends as they try to uncover a lost village, but the evil wizard Gargamel makes up his mind to shatter their plans. These family additions complement a week of counter-programming that includes live sports, such as the MLB Field of Dreams matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Minnesota Twins on Thursday, August 13.
