Search Continues for Savannah Guthrie’s Mother, Nancy Guthrie, as FBI and Local Authorities Investigate New Lead
Authorities are continuing the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC News anchor Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing for nearly two weeks. A recent inquiry at a residence near E Orange Grove Rd & N First Ave in Pima county, Arizona, prompted a joint operation between the pima County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.
While initial reports late Friday night indicated significant activity, sheriff Chris Nanos clarified on saturday that the operation was related to following up on a lead. “Just tracking down leads. no arrests. And no signs of Nancy,” nanos told NewsNation’s Brian Entin. The Sheriff’s Department also stated to local affiliate KOLD that the search warrant was executed after tracking down a lead, but no arrest was made.
The FBI announced earlier this week that it had increased the reward for facts leading to Nancy Guthrie’s location to $100,000.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31st and is believed to have been taken from her home against her will by a masked man, as captured on doorbell camera footage. She requires daily medication and has been without it as her disappearance.
Earlier in the week, authorities briefly detained a deliveryman named Carlos as a person of interest, but he was released without charges. The specifics of the lead that prompted the recent SWAT operation have not been released.
Anyone with information regarding Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts is urged to contact the authorities.
