The companies say this in a press release. The acquisition was made in January, but has only now been announced.

Van den Assem’s head office and distribution center will be merged with those of Omoda in Zierikzee. “This integration will be fully completed in May 2024,” the companies said. It is not clear whether this will have consequences for the staff.

The purchase gives Omoda a wider range of more luxurious shoes, from brands such as Tod’s and Hogan. According to the FD, Van den Assem was in a difficult situation, because red figures were recorded in the past two years. House bank ING then decided to stop financing this summer.

Ex-owners Berry and Leo van den Assem hope that the company can grow again with the takeover. They say they will also remain involved in the operation.

According to Jan Baan, CEO of Omoda, increasing the scale of his company is “essential to continue to operate healthily”. This should be possible thanks to a renewed webshop and ‘highly automated’ distribution center.
