OnePlus says it made a mistake in communicating about the OnePlus 12R. According to previous reports, some variants of the smartphone would contain UFS 4.0 storage, but in practice all OnePlus 12R devices contain UFS 3.1 storage.
When the OnePlus 12R was released, the manufacturer announced that the device uses the new Trinity Engine feature to optimize storage and memory transfer in software. In addition, the company said it made the mistake of stating that the 256GB version would offer UFS 4.0 storage, which is twice as fast as UFS 3.1 and should also be more efficient.
Due to the presence of the Trinity Engine, the OnePlus 12R should still load apps faster than the OnePlus 11, which also has UFS 3.1 storage. The regular OnePlus 12 does have the faster UFS 4.0 storage. The OnePlus 12R and OnePlus 12 were released in January this year in the Benelux. The smartphones were released for the Chinese market a month earlier.
