The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) made three new arrests of members of the criminal community on Wednesday afternoon. The suspects face attempted murder charges.

An investigation opened on April 19 allowed police officers to arrest three young men aged 20 to 22, in the Saint-Rédempteur sector, in Lévis.

In addition to attempted murder, police believe they have all the elements in hand to charge the three individuals with armed assault, robbery, break and enter, threatening and conspiracy.

Two of the young suspects remained detained and must appear at the Quebec courthouse during the day, Thursday. The third man was released on a promise to appear in court.

Furthermore, SPVQ spokesperson Sandra Dion confirms that another suspect, aged 43, is still wanted in connection with this case.

She specifies that these new arrests are not linked to the conflict between different criminal groups for control of the drug market.

Multiple arrests

This new police operation increases the number of arrests made in Quebec in connection with organized crime to 11 in less than 10 days.

On April 23, the SPVQ carried out two separate drug interventions. In both cases, the police force got their hands on large quantities of methamphetamine and on various tools used in drug trafficking, in addition to handcuffing five individuals. He also seized several firearms during the search of a residence in Neufchâtel.

Two days later, the police arrived at the home of a man from Val-Bélair who would be close to the Blood Family Mafia gang. On site, she confiscated a veritable armada, including a .50 caliber long rifle, two .12 calibers, a .22 caliber, a pistol, two prohibited high-capacity magazines, three bulletproof jackets as well as a large lot ammunition of different types. The owner of the premises was also arrested.

Finally, on Tuesday, the SPVQ proceeded to the arrest of a 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman in matters of narcotics. While searching their home, the police seized cocaine, two stolen bicycles, two prohibited bladed weapons and various objects that could be used for drug trafficking.
