Fuel prices cause political emotions not only in Poland

High fuel prices remain the subject of political dispute in Poland. Politicians of the previous government remind Donald Tusk of his words that he knows what to do to make fuel cost PLN 5.19 per liter. He hits the ball himself, reminding that he said it in other market realities. He also points out that it is not the role of the head of government to regulate prices at gas stations.

I am not responsible for petrol prices, it is not the Prime Minister’s decision – he said two weeks ago when asked about his words from June 2022.

Prices evoke similar emotions not only in Poland. The Hungarian government once again decided to interfere in the market and ordered stations to reduce prices to the average regional level within two weeks, threatening them with penalties. The expected prices are: 647 forints (PLN 7.11) per liter of gasoline and 633 forints (PLN 6.95) for diesel oil.

Budapest’s previous interference in this market led to temporary supply shortages on the market.
