While pro-Palestinian demonstrations spread rapidly in universities in the USA, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu published a video message in English on the subject.

Netanyahu claimed that the demonstrations of students demanding an end to the bloodshed in Gaza were “antisemitic”.

Describing the demonstrations at US universities as “terrible”, Netanyahu called for these protests to be stopped.

Netanyahu argued that some state, local and federal officials in the US reacted to these anti-occupation protests, but more needed to be done.

“ISRAEL IS UNFAIRLY ACCUSED OF GENOCIDE”

Claiming that Israel was “unfairly accused of genocide”, Netanyahu stated that everyone should react against the demonstrations, which he claimed were “antisemitic”.

On April 18, pro-Palestinian students at Columbia University started a sit-in on the campus lawn to protest the school’s ongoing financial investments in companies that support the occupation of Palestine and the genocide in Gaza.

In the statements made by the US Congress members, the New York Governor’s Office and the Municipality, it was claimed that the students who had been on guard duty for a week exhibited “antisemitic” behavior.

Later, demonstrations by pro-Palestinian students spread to other leading schools in the USA, such as New York University (NYU), Yale, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Tufts University, The New School and the University of North Carolina.

HAMAS: ISRAEL VIOLATES STUDENTS’ RIGHT TO EXPRESSION

Hamas Movement Political Bureau Member Izzat al-Rishq accused the US administration of “violating individual rights and the right to expression” by preventing the demonstrations of university students opposing the Israeli “genocide” in the Gaza Strip.

Rişk made a written statement on the issue.

In his statement, “The US administration is violating (the students’) individual rights and right to expression because they reject the genocide committed by neo-Nazi Zionists in the Gaza Strip.” Using his statements, Rishk noted that “US police detained university students and faculty members without considering the moral values they represent.”

Rishk stated that the US President Joe Biden administration is a partner in the brutal attacks against the Palestinian people and said, “Today’s students are the leaders of the future, and their suppression today means an expensive election bill that the Biden administration will pay sooner or later.” he said.

Pro-Palestinian protests that started last week between Columbia University administration and students in the USA and caused hundreds of people to be detained, spread to other universities across the country.
