The next episode of tvN’s drama places Cheon Yeo Ri in the most dangerous situations she has ever faced, guided by a ghost to a crime scene in a remote mountain area. Stills released ahead of the broadcast show the character coming face to face with a cold-blooded killer who had planned a perfect crime.
While Cheon Yeo Ri maintains her composure during the unexpected encounter, the perpetrator grows livid at the unforeseen disturbance in his plan. A chilling final photograph captures the character looking helpless after being shoved to the ground by the killer, leaving viewers to question whether she will be able to escape unharmed. The next episode of “Spooky Love” will air on August 1 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
Expanding a 2011 Hit Film Into a 12-Episode Series
“Spooky in Loveserves as a television remake of the 2011 romantic comedy film
Spellbound,” which originally starred Lee Min-ki and Son Ye-jin. The new adaptation pairs Park Eun-bin with actor Yang Se-jong, following a chaebol heiress cursed with the ability to see ghosts, who finds herself falling for headstrong prosecutor Ma Kang-wook.

(2026) and Disney+’s “Hyper Knife” (2025), spoke about the scope of the project during a press conference in Seoul on July 14. The 33-year-old actress expressed her excitement about stretching the boundaries of the original, noting that the adaptation overhauls the narrative, characters, and overall world established in the original feature.
“The idea of turning a film into a drama series struck me as an exciting challenge. While the film runs for about two hours, a 12-episode series gives us at least six times more room to expand the story and introduce new settings and elements.”

Fresh Supernatural Mechanics and Genre-Blending Lore
The television version introduces distinct changes to the original story mechanics. Although the main character keeps the name Yeo-ri, she is no longer Kang Yeo-ri, and the adaptation adds new supernatural rules to the lore.
“My character is still named Yeo-ri, but unlike in the film, she’s no longer Kang Yeo-ri. Beyond the name, we’ve reimagined many aspects of the story, so I focused on bringing out what makes the drama version unique.”

Beyond the expanded mythology, Park was drawn to the drama for its blend of tones and narrative formats, noting that working on the project made her realise how much she enjoys stories that combine multiple genres. Romance makes up a significant part of the series, but it is also layered with occult elements, investigative teamwork, and action, with bringing all of these together making the project so compelling.
The adaptation arrives at a time when K-dramas are competing in an increasingly crowded global streaming environment. Yet, even with a worldwide footprint secured via Netflix, director Lee Min-su said his priority was to lean into the distinctive strength of South Korean storytelling rather than tailor the series for a global audience.
