A 22-year-old man,identified as Thomas Colden,has been arrested by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department in connection with two robberies that occurred at massage spas in Poway on Saturday,January 24,2026. The swift apprehension was aided by video surveillance and license plate reader technology, according to law enforcement officials.
Details of the Robberies
The first robbery was reported at approximately 8:30 p.m. at Poway Spa,located in the 13000 block of Pomerado Road. A woman reported being threatened with a knife by a masked man who demanded money and physically assaulted her [San Diego Union-Tribune].
Minutes later, a similar robbery occurred at Lavender Spa, situated in the 12000 block of Poway Road. The victim in this incident provided a description of the suspect consistent with the first robbery [NBC San Diego].
Inquiry and Arrest
investigators reviewed security footage from both businesses and obtained video from a nearby company’s camera system, which captured a green Dodge Challenger leaving the scene. A sheriff’s detective recognized the vehicle from a previous investigation involving a lewd act and a suspect matching Colden’s description. License plate reader data further confirmed the vehicle’s presence near both spas during the times of the robberies.
Colden was taken into custody at a Poway residence shortly before 7 a.m. on Monday, january 26, 2026.
Charges Filed
Colden is facing multiple charges, including burglary, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and sexual battery. He is currently being held at the San Diego Central Jail on $600,000 bail [San Diego County
