Sony shared good news regarding sales of its best console PlayStation 5 (PS5) during 2023. Globally, based on the company’s financial results report, PS5 managed to record sales of 54.8 million units.
From this report, the fact was revealed that 8.2 million PS5 units were shipped over the three months – until December 31 2023 -. This figure is up 1.1 million from the same period in the previous fiscal year.
The increase in sales is also directly proportional to the increase in monthly active users on the PlayStation Network. Its recorded users reached 123 million and that means an increase of 11 million from 112 million active users last year.
FYI, PS5 was first released for the global market in 2020. Meanwhile, for the Indonesian market, this console was only officially released in January 2021.
When it was first launched, Sony made a number of adjustments to this fifth generation console. The company made two variants of the PS5 at that time, one that could play games physically and digitally and also a version that supported digital only.
