Roman Reigns on Balancing WWE, Hollywood, and Mentoring Jey Uso
roman Reigns recently appeared on The Pat McAfee Show, offering insights into his evolving career – navigating the demands of WWE alongside his new role in the upcoming Street Fighter film, and reflecting on the ascent of Jey Uso. His comments reveal a seasoned performer adapting to new challenges and a leader confident in his guidance.
Adapting to the World of Film
Reigns detailed the significant shift in mindset required for filmmaking. He’s accustomed to the fast-paced, live environment of WWE, complete wiht travel and dedicated creative space.
“I’m so used to my WWE bubble and that process,” Reigns explained.”Being live, jetting in and jetting out, having the bus and my own creative space.I had to rewire myself to be ready for a different process.”
This transition, however, proved enjoyable. He even experienced a moment of realization, stating, “There was one moment in time where I was like, ‘This is what being a movie star feels like.’ Being in that little bubble was cool.”
Importantly, Reigns emphasized the transferability of skills honed in WWE. Everything he’s learned – the performance, the charisma, the strategic thinking – translates effectively to the film industry.
Recognizing Jey Uso’s Potential
The conversation also focused on Jey Uso’s growing prominence within WWE. Reigns revealed he’s long recognized Uso’s potential, seeing a “gorgeous possibility” for him years ago.
“We’re just now seeing that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow with him,” Reigns stated. “There is so much more left to do with him. There are so many more accolades and opportunities for him to capitalize on.”
He acknowledged the difficulty of reaching the top, but stressed that staying there is the real challenge. “He got there, that’s one of the hard parts, but the hardest part is staying there and staying relevant. To stay at the tip top of the mountain and breathe at that altitude. to do it like I did.”
A Mentor’s Frustration
Despite his belief in Uso,Reigns expressed a degree of frustration with his protégé’s willingness to take advice. He extended this sentiment to Uso’s brother, Jimmy.
“I wish he would listen to me a lot better. I wish his brother would shut up and listen to me as well. It would make life a lot easier,” Reigns commented.
he firmly believes his track record speaks for itself. “At the end of the day, I have proof of concept. I’m the one who has mapped this thing out.I’m the only one who understands how to navigate these waters and I wish they would listen to me.”
What’s Next for The Bloodline?
currently, Reigns is preparing to face Bronson Reed in an Australian Street Fight at WWE Crown Jewel on Saturday, october 11, in Perth, Western Australia. This match promises to be a physical contest, adding another chapter to reigns’ dominant run as champion.
This appearance on The Pat McAfee show offers a compelling look into the mind of a top-tier performer, balancing multiple commitments and offering guidance to the next generation of WWE Superstars. It reinforces Reigns’ position not just as a champion, but as a veteran leader within the industry.
