Cristiano Ronaldo Reportedly Refuses to Play Amidst Al-Nassr Investment Concerns
Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned Portuguese footballer, reportedly refused to participate in Al-Nassr’s recent match against Al-Riyadh, signaling discontent with the club’s management and investment strategies. Despite extending his contract with Al-Nassr in the summer,the superstar is allegedly frustrated with what he perceives as a lack of support compared to other Saudi Pro league clubs backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
According to reports from the Portuguese newspaper A bola,Ronaldo’s decision is not health-related but stems from a feeling of being disadvantaged. The PIF also owns Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ittihad, and Ronaldo believes Al-Nassr is receiving less investment in player acquisitions.
while Al-Nassr invested over 100 million euros in new players during the summer transfer window – bringing in Kingsley Coman, Mohamed Simakan, and Joao Félix – recent activity has been comparatively subdued. Al-Hilal, for example, has already spent 30 million euros on new signings this winter, with Al-Ahli contributing an additional 10 million euros. Al-Nassr’s only winter signing has been 21-year-old Iraqi player Haydeer Abdulkareem.
This isn’t an isolated complaint. Al-Nassr’s coach, Jorge Jesus, recently voiced similar concerns, stating the club “doesn’t have the political power like Al-Hilal.” Ronaldo’s public display of dissatisfaction is highly likely a purposeful attempt to highlight thes issues, especially considering his contract with the club extends through 2027.
