ŽILINA – The sad news hit the Slovak medical community, the exceptional doctor MUDr. Ladislav Augustín. He was a recognized urologist and former director of the Žilina hospital.

MUDr. Ladislav Augustín, a native of Domaniž, received his medical diploma at the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in Bratislava in 1959. Immediately after finishing school, he started working at the District Institute of National Health Žilina, which is actually today’s Žilina Faculty Hospital and Polyclinic.

Later, he managed to obtain certification in the field of surgery. However, he obtained a second certification in the field of urology and also obtained a specialization in social medicine and health care organization. He led the Žilina Hospital as director from 1975 to 1990. During this period, he contributed significantly to the development of the hospital.

In addition to medicine, he also devoted himself to pedagogy. He taught exclusively professional subjects at the Secondary Medical School in Žilina.

He will be missed by many

Ladislav Augustín was one of the prominent personalities of Žilina and was an integral and important part of the history of the Žilina hospital. “His exceptional personality is associated in the minds of many with concepts such as determination, professionalism, determination and ambition to develop and progress. He was and will be among the important personalities of Žilina. Doctor, you will forever remain in our hearts. Thank you for everything you have done for our hospital. We all know that there was indeed a great deal,” stated with deep gratitude and respect the Žilina Faculty Hospital and Polyclinic.

Maria will also be missed. “He was a good person, an exceptional director. He taught me at the Secondary Health School and was a friend of my father’s,” she stated sadly. Even Marislav will never forget him: “Mr. director, friend and friend, person with a capital C.”

He also contributed to articles about the Žilina hospital. “Lacko, goodbye. Honor to your memory. It was an honor to work with you by creating articles about the Žilina hospital,” stated Štefan with sadness in his heart.

The last farewell to the doctor will be on Tuesday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Old Cemetery in Žilina.
