Thanks to the information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), reporting the imminent arrival of a boat transporting hashish from Morocco to Tenerife, the Spanish Civil Guard was able to set up a surveillance system. surveillance which allowed the arrest, on 01.05.2024, of seven people and the seizure of 1,715 kg of hashish on the coast of Tacoronte, in Tenerife.

This system involved agents from the Organic Judicial Police Unit (UOPJ), Civil Security patrols, Taxation and Borders units, as well as the Provincial Maritime Service, with the support of the Operational Services Center (COS) of the Commandery of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Officers surprised seven people on the Mesa Del Mar boardwalk loading bales from a semi-rigid boat into a van. Five of these people transported the drugs and two others acted as captains of the boat.

In addition to the 47 bales of drugs seized, Spanish authorities also confiscated the inflatable boat, the van, a satellite telephone, several cell phones and a navigation GPS.

The arrested people were presented to the Magistrate of La Laguna, who ordered their placement in pre-trial detention, accused of crimes against public health.
