Kenny Morris, the original drummer for Siouxsie and the Banshees, has died at the age of 68. News of his passing was announced on January 15th by music journalist John Robb in Louder Than War. The cause and exact date of death have not been disclosed.
Morris was remembered by Robb as a “sweet, articulate, artistic and engaging” friend, known for his “lovely eccentricity.” He studied fine art and filmmaking and briefly played with Sid Vicious’s band, the Flowers of romance, before joining Siouxsie and the Banshees in 1977.
He performed on the band’s first two albums, The Scream (1978) and Join Hands (1979), and played on the hit single “Hong Kong Garden.” Morris left the band during a 1979 tour following a disagreement, and was replaced by Peter “Budgie” Clarke.
