Ten famous Dutch people traveled to Mexico to discover who the Mole is in their midst this year. NU.nl speaks to the dropouts every week Who is the mole?. Today an old acquaintance: Babs Schutte.

It doesn’t happen often Who is the mole?: A dropout who returns to the game and lasts for several episodes. The fact that Babs Schutte, the very first dropout this season, managed to make it to episode seven is an achievement in itself.

Two red screens in one season: few people can say that.

“That first red screen was just a shame. Being the first dropout is the most annoying scenario Who is the mole?. I also found it really difficult that so many people were disappointed. I hadn’t thought about that at all beforehand. I thought: this is my adventure. But the moment it comes on television, so many people sympathize with you, then it becomes a bit of theirs too.”

“I’m very grateful that I got a second chance. And I think I lasted a long time. I mean, episode seven. I’m quite proud of that. Especially because it wasn’t easy. People have a bit of the idea that I had some kind of advantage because I had come back with extra information. But, yes, in all honesty: I had missed three episodes. And I had only experienced De Mol one episode. The two times I did get a green screen , I was really surprised.”

What was that like, returning to a group that formed without you?

“It’s very strange. If Justin (Mooijer, fourth dropout, ed.) had come back, then of course nothing would have happened. Because he had been with that group for some time. I experienced them for a very short time, so I knew they weren’t that good yet. And by now they knew each other a lot better. A dynamic had arisen that wasn’t there yet and that took some getting used to. At the same time, in the short time you’re in it, you become very close. And everyone liked it. “It’s really nice to see me again. While you might also think: not chill, another competitor. But I really felt that they gave it to me, because I had been the first to drop out.”

“But yes, no one really suspected me anymore. That’s a shame, because that’s just part of the game. That you let people suspect you. I actually didn’t even have to try that anymore.”

There were viewers who thought maybe it was you after all.

“You also see it in an episode: I tried to confuse Kees (van der Spek, ed.) a bit. ‘What you said is not correct, is it? About having to build block towers,’ he asked me. And I went along with it, that was so funny. I thought: if there is one person who I can still make suspicious of me, then I will go for it.”

If everyone else trusts you, is it easy to forge a bond?

“Well, no. That’s not in the episode, but Tooske (Ragas, ed.) just rejected me flat out, haha. That was still quite a bit uncomfortable. I needed someone who could tell me what happened when I was not there. Because it wasn’t as if they made it easy for me: in the first test I was immediately asked questions about the episode that I was not present at. And everyone had already shared everything with each other. So when I came again with “What was your teddy bear’s name when you were five?” they had no desire to do that again.”

“I eventually got into a bond with Sor (Rosario Mussendijk, ed.), but I didn’t trust him one bit. He lied about everything. So it was more that I could keep an eye on him a bit. It would have been nice if that without spitting, haha.”

Didn’t you space this episode out at all?

“Yes, that is not entirely clear, but I was sitting on two people. In the test I went a little more on one than on the other. So now that I have figured it out, I actually know who it is, I think. “I would really like it if it turns out that I was right after all. But hey, I’m surprised all the time in this program, so maybe I’m completely wrong. Nothing is what it seems.”
