The Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will see a unique and spirited performance from Spanish figure skater Tomas-Llorenc Guarino Sabate, after he received final approval to use a medley of music from the popular animated film, Minions, in his short program. The men’s competition begins on February 10th at the milan Cortina Games.

Sabate faced a potential setback last week when Universal Studios requested further details regarding his use of the Minions music and accompanying outfit. He had initially believed he had the necessary clearances through ClicknClear, a system designed to simplify music licensing for athletic performances. The request came with only days remaining before the start of the Olympics, leaving Sabate scrambling to potentially replace his routine.
“Finding this out last Friday, so close to the biggest competition of my life, was incredibly disappointing,” Sabate shared in an Instagram post. “Nevertheless, I will face this challenge head-on and do everything I can to make the best of the situation.”
