The uproar seems to have paid off.

Update: Sony has now taken the blade from its mouth and says that as of May 30th the PSN requirement will not be implemented, and that they are looking at what is best for the PC gamers.

Original article: Up like a sun, down like a pancake. After the recent one the reminder about that Helldivers 2 will require connection to a PSN account also on PC starting May 30, the criticism and negative reviews have been a stick in the back.

And it’s not just an inconvenience for people who don’t want to create or link a PSN account, because in many countries PSN is not available at all, which has now led to the game being removed from Steam in 177 countries and territories, simultaneously which Steam seems to accept requests about refunds even from people who play well beyond the two hours you are usually allowed to play if you want your money back.

Meanwhile, Arrowhead points out that the decision to require PSN is not theirs, and that they are currently in talks with Sony to come up with a solution, “especially for countries without PSN”.
