New records from Taylor Swift are not uncommon – but now she has broken another one. The world star’s new album “The tortured poets department” makes Spotify history as the first album to surpass 200 million listens in a single day on the streaming service. With this, she also becomes the most streamed artist ever in a single day, writes Variety.
That means Swift now holds all three of the top spots in the category, as her albums “Midnights” and “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” are also the most listened to in a day.
“The tortured poets department” was released on Friday, but the record party started even before that. The record became the most watched ever on the streaming service’s site for upcoming music.
The album is Swift’s eleventh in a row. No singles had been pre-released and on release day it surprisingly turned out to be a double album.
