And an OLED version is allegedly in the works.

There have been several new rumors surrounding Nintendo’s next console, “Switch 2” as it may be called.

The first claims that the console could be released in the second half of 2024. This contrasts with several other recent claims that claim that Nintendo is waiting until early 2025 to build a steady catalog of game releases. The 2024 claim comes from The X account OreXda, which according to Wccftech previously leaked Samsung-related data. It is also claimed that both LCD and OLED variants are in the works, but that the latter will possibly be released later.

In the second charge rumors say sources in Spanish Vandal (translation) that the Switch 2 will be bigger than the Switch but smaller than the Steam Deck. Previous rumors have said that the Switch 2 screen will be 8 inches, thus larger than the Deck’s 7.4 inches.

Furthermore, the Switch 2 should have Joy-Con controllers, but these are attached with magnets instead of rails as with the Switch. The old controllers should therefore not be compatible with the Switch 2, but the Pro controller will be all the better. This information must come from accessory manufacturers who have spoken directly with Vandal’s employees. But all of the above are thus unconfirmed rumours.

The Switch 2 has not been officially revealed, but with a Switch that has passed seven years and no major games announced, a new machine is likely to be on the way. It has been speculated several times about a premiere in early 2025 (which the Vandal article is also on), but since nothing official has been said, it might as well come this year.
