Argentine Motorsport Teams Gear up for 2026 Season with Testing at La Plata
La Plata, Argentina – A warm Tuesday saw the Autódromo de La Plata bustling with activity as numerous racing teams and drivers conducted extensive testing sessions, signaling the imminent start of the 2026 motorsport season. Over a dozen vehicles took too the “Mouras” circuit, with a strong focus on preparation for the upcoming Turismo Nacional (TN), Turismo Carretera (TC), and Turismo carretera 2000 (TC2000) championships.
Among the prominent contenders present was Agustín Canapino, preparing his Chevrolet Cruze for his continued campaign in the TN Clase 3 category. The iconic Ford Mustang was also heavily represented, with both Mauricio Lambiris and Juan Bautista De Benedictis utilizing the platform for crucial testing ahead of the TC season.
Lambiris, alongside the “Gurí Martínez Competición” team, focused on aerodynamic evaluations of his Ford mustang. The team, including its owner and Uruguayan personnel, along with preparer Rody Agut, were all present at La Plata. De Benedictis, meanwhile, participated in his first practice session with the RUS Med Team following his recent arrival.
Beyond these key drivers, a diverse range of competitors were also on track. Jeremías Olmedo tested the ex-Mallo Chevrolet Cruze, while Bautista Roqueta continued familiarizing himself with the Toyota yaris, marking his second test session in preparation for his debut in the category. Nicanor Santilli Pazos continued evaluations with his Ford Mustang following Monday’s initial testing.
The TC Pista category also saw significant participation, with Santiago Biagi piloting the Dodge prepared by RUS Med Team and Braian quevedo driving the Toyota Camry fielded by Coiro Competición. Dose Competición brought their TC2000 vehicles to La Plata,with Juan Bautista and juan Manuel Dose sharing a Citroën C4 Lounge,Christian at the helm of a Chevrolet Cruze,and Rubén Diéguez driving the Renault Fluence.
Concluding the day’s activities, Marcelo Vergagni tested a Ford Ranger from the TC Pista Pick Up series, focusing on performance adjustments following the removal of the rear spoilers.
