Logan Paul Sells Pikachu Illustrator Card for Record-Breaking $5.275 Million
Logan Paul, the YouTuber and social media personality, has sold his Pikachu Illustrator card for a record-breaking $5.275 million. The sale, facilitated by Goldin Auctions, marks the highest price ever paid for a Pokémon trading card.
The buyer is renowned collector and investor,Patrick Scaramucci,according to Goldin. Guinness world Records has officially confirmed the sale as a new record for the most expensive trading card ever sold at auction. The 40-day auction saw a surge in bids during its final day, with the price tripling on February 16th.
Paul originally purchased the card in 2022 for over €4 million (approximately $4.5 million at the time), earning him a spot in the Guinness World Records for the most expensive Pokémon card purchased privately. He famously wore the card, encased in a protective holder, on a diamond chain during Wrestlemania 38. The chain was also included in the sale to Scaramucci.
The “Pikachu Illustrator” card is exceptionally rare, awarded to winners of an illustration contest held by CoroCoro comic in Japan in 1998.It’s considered one of the most coveted Pokémon cards in existence.
paul initially hinted at potentially selling the card in a recent YouTube video with his brother Jake,stating he was considering finding the “right person” to pass it on to.
