Just this year, this original Finnish “tatanka” celebrates 25 years. It may not be as legendary as the Nokia 3310, but without it, its successor wouldn’t even have been created. Nokia 3210 was launched in 1999 as the first global mobile phone without a visible antenna. A total of 161 million units of this phone were sold, which still ranks it among the top 10 best-selling phones of all time. It was therefore to be expected that even this classic would be reincarnated over time.

The current Finnish manufacturer HMD, which still owns the Nokia license for the production of push-button phones, presents a brand new model Nokia 3210 (2024). The novelty uses the well-known silhouette of the original with an extended upper part, reminiscent of a snake’s head, which is also another reference to the original model in the form of the built-in Snake game. But it is not a direct copy, the phone has different buttons on the keyboard and contains much more plastic, the Snake game is more animated and colorful than the old version.

If retro, then with everything. The manufacturer has prepared visuals in the style of the nineties for the launch of the Nokia 3210 (2024). Although similar pocket squares are actually still worn today…

The manufacturer still feels the demand for push-button phones not only among the older generation, who find it difficult to get used to touch smartphones, but also has a growing customer base among the young, who may feel frustrated by being constantly connected online and may desire a digital detox. HMD therefore expects sales of push-button phones to grow further this year. The Nokia 3210 (2024) can also contribute to this, which the manufacturer will offer in three colors – yellow, black and turquoise blue.

The equipment is among the best among push-button telephones. Nokia 3210 (2024) supports 4G networks, which in this case is not so much for the Internet connection, but mainly for better call quality in 4G networks using VoLTE. The phone includes a color non-touch QVGA display with a diagonal of 2.4 inches, a 2 Mpx camera, a flashlight, a Dual SIM function and a battery with a capacity of 1450 mAh, which can easily power the phone for two weeks without charging.

There is also a 3.5 mm jack and a USB-C connector, so that the phone complies with the European regulation on the universal connector from December. You can listen to classic analog FM radio from your phone, using a cable or wirelessly. The environment is built on the S30+ platform and runs on the Unisoc T107 processor. While the original Nokia 3210 in 1999 cost (without operator subsidies) almost 12,000 crowns, its reborn version will be significantly cheaper and 2,000 CZK will be enough. Only yellow and black colors will be introduced to the Czech market.
