The commune in Romania, called “Heaven in Romania”, attracts at least one million foreign tourists every year, captivating them with its mysterious legends.

The place in Romania, where the idyllic landscapes, which seem to have been detached from the Middle Ages, not only keep the tradition alive, but also emanate a magical air that urges visitors to come back.

Bran, perhaps the most promising commune in terms of tourism in Romania, attracts at least one million foreign tourists annually, captivating them especially with the legend of vampires.

However, the potential of the place is not exploited to its maximum capacity, a situation also found in other top destinations in the country.

The gift and the curse that Bram Stoker brought on “Heaven in Romania” are behind the current situation in Bran.

In 1897, the author conceived the novel “Dracula”, inspired by the story of Vlad Țepeș, the Romanian ruler notorious for his brutal method of punishing traitors.

Although reputed for defending his country against enemies, the difference between the historical facts and the fictional version is huge. Perhaps the only element that remains relevant is the stake, the symbol with which the famous vampire can be killed.

The attraction to fiction and myths maintained the belief in the existence of vampires and fueled the desire of many tourists to explore the “house of Dracula”. Even if they did not meet any fantastic creature, they returned to Bran, attracted by the special atmosphere of the commune.

Another well-known attraction is Bran Castle, also known as Dracula’s Castle, which attracts tycoons from around the world every Halloween with colossal entrance fees.

It is perhaps the most famous tourist destination in Romania, which leads to endless queues to purchase a ticket, sold at considerable prices, according to Buget.ro

With these two special attractions, souvenir traders in Bran could not be without. A large part of these souvenirs are inspired by vampires, the image of Vlad the Impaler, presented as Dracula, as well as images of the castle.
